Why aren't my Facebook ads getting leads?
In local markets it is almost always one of five causes: your ad has no hook, your offer is weak, the campaign is optimizing for the wrong objective, your targeting radius is far too wide, or leads are arriving and nobody is answering them fast enough. In our experience the last one is the most common and the least suspected.
1. There is no hook
If your ad opens with your business name and a list of services, it is a brochure. Nobody stops scrolling for a brochure. The first line has to name a specific problem or a specific outcome that makes the right person feel spoken to. The hook decides roughly 80% of performance, which means it deserves 80% of the effort.
2. The offer is not compelling
"Contact us for a quote" is not an offer, it is a request for work from the customer. Ads amplify whatever is already there — a strong, specific, slightly uncomfortable-to-give offer makes mediocre creative work, and a vague offer makes brilliant creative expensive.
3. The objective is wrong
Boosting a post optimizes for cheap engagement, so Meta delivers you likes from people three counties away who will never call. If you want enquiries, the campaign has to be built for leads and told what a conversion actually is.
4. The radius is too wide
Targeting an entire state, or a 50-mile radius when you service 15, spends your budget on people you cannot profitably serve. Local campaigns should be built at zip-code level around where your van actually goes.
5. The leads are arriving and dying
This is the one that catches most people. Check your lead form submissions in Meta against how many you actually called. Owners regularly discover leads sitting unread for days, or landing in a Facebook notification nobody looks at. The ads were working; the follow-up was not. Fixing response time is usually cheaper than fixing the ads.
Before you increase budget: confirm leads are reaching you, being called within minutes, and being followed up more than once. Scaling a campaign with a broken follow-up loop just buys more leads to lose.
