Do I need a website if I have a Facebook page?
Yes, for three reasons that do not go away: you do not own the Facebook page and its rules can change without warning, a Facebook page barely competes in Google search where high-intent customers look, and people about to spend serious money check for a real website as a basic credibility test.
You are renting, not owning
Your page exists at the discretion of a platform that can change reach, restrict features, or disable an account with no meaningful appeal. Businesses do lose pages, sometimes for automated reasons that were never explained. If that page is your entire online presence, one bad morning removes your storefront.
Search is where the buyers are
Somebody typing "emergency plumber Lehighton" is ready now. That search surfaces the map pack and websites, and a Facebook page competes weakly. You cannot build the pages that rank for the questions your customers ask — one per service, one per town — inside a social profile.
Credibility scales with ticket size
For a $30 haircut, a well-kept Facebook page may be plenty. For a $15,000 roof, people look for a real site, and its absence registers as a small risk signal. It is not fair, and it is consistent.
What you actually need
Not a big site. A fast one that answers four questions immediately: what you do, whether you cover their town, whether you can be trusted, and how to reach you. Tap-to-call that works first time, a short form, real photos of your own work.
Keep the Facebook page — it does a real job for social proof and it is where paid campaigns run. Just stop letting it be the only thing you own. And make sure whatever you build is actually crawlable and fast, because a beautiful site nobody can find is an expensive business card.
